Kiambu Fram AB

Description

We are excited to showcase our first Kenyan coffee, long overdue at this point! Kiambu Fram is a 30-hectare family-owned farm located in Kenya's Muranga County, located close to the Gatamaiyo Forest Preserve at an altitude of 1850 masl. In the cup, we have a punchy profile of sweet lime juice, yellow peaches, and a refreshing green apple malic quality.

This is a fully washed coffee that has been dried on African raised sun-beds.

Varietal

SL28 is perhaps Kenya's most well-known varietal, famed for its punchy acidity and potential for highly complex cups, often featuring unique dark fruits and a famed tree tomato / tomato note in varying degrees. It's name reflects its history, having been discovered and selected by Scott Laboratories in the 1930s for its promising yield, quality potential, and disease / drought resistance.

Processing

Washed.

This is a fully washed coffee that has been dried on raised sun-beds.

Green Cost: 9.00/lb

Importer: Coffee Shrub

Our "Green Cost" represents the cost of the raw coffee as well as associated transportation costs of shipping from warehouse to our roastery. As a small roaster, this allows us to provide a consistent calculation of our most important expense, given that other costs (e.g. packaging, labor, roast profiling R&D, quality control etc.) can vary significantly. We hope to be able to provide even more detailed cost breakdowns soon.
